Weddell Sea Explorer: A Polar Adventure
Discover the dramatic landscapes of the Weddell Sea, with towering icebergs, rugged coastlines, and historic sites await. February’s Antarctic summer brings vibrant wildlife, with penguin chicks stealing the show. Whether you’re diving among icebergs, snorkeling with seals, or contributing to citizen science projects, this trip delivers adventure at every turn. This itinerary also includes diving at Deception Island, an Antarctic volcano with colorful marine life and visiting the remains of the whaling station. We will dive and snorkel on icebergs, search for charismatic wildlife in and out of the water and zodiac cruise around big tabular icebergs. Kayaks will also be available at certain times to take in the serenity and sounds of Antarctica without noise. Late February into March has lot of whales including humpback, fin, minke & orcas around and typically a fantastic time for leopard seals and penguin chicks starting to take their first swim. There is always a chance for a random emperor penguin as well since their breeding area is at Snow Hill Island. Every trip has unique encounters and memorable moments.
