Join Becky Schott and Blue Green Expeditions in one of the most enchanting places on the planet, Galapagos! This is a unique combination trip where we will have the ability to explore the islands on land and underwater while staying aboard our vessel M/V Aqua for 15 days!
These remote islands off the coast of Equador are natures evolutionary laboratory and perfectly situated between the ocean currents to create a diverse ecosystem unlike any other. The archipelago contains more distinct species of flora and fauna than any other place on earth. Our longer and custom itinerary gives us the time to explore more remote islands many trips don’t get to and look for unique animal behaviors and interactions. On land, we can see the blue footed booby, Galapagos Penguins, Marine iguanas, sea lions, Galapagos hawks and many endemic species of birds and of course Galapagos Tortoises!
Underwater the Galapagos is even more amazing! Our trip is over the shoulder season so there is a lot of wildlife to see! Schools of hammerhead sharks, Galapagos sharks, white tips, sea lions, mola mola, marine iguanas, bat fish, sea horses, manta rays, penguins, turtles, pods of dolphins, huge schools of fish and possibly orca and whale sharks! As an added value we will take care of the logistics by incorporating the domestic flights and hotel in Quito on Nov 17th. All of the transfers to and from the airport, hotel and to and from the boat is included in the cost. We want this trip to be one of the most smooth and unforgettable.
The ship normally takes 16 passengers but we are only taking 12 which means 6 divers / photographers on each zodiac giving us more room and space on the boats for photography gear. All cabins are air conditioned and have en-suite bathrooms and showers. We will have a naturalist guide with us the entire trip who’s a wealth of information. We’ll hike on different islands, do 3-4 dives a day, zodiac cruises looking for birds and other wildlife for photography. This itinerary is non-stop and we work around the best times to dive and see wildlife vs a fixed schedule. It’s really unlike any other trip and It’s jam packed with not much down time. There are a lot of endemic species to see so no time Is wasted!
Our Itinerary will include Isla Santiago, Wolf and Darwin Islands down to La Fernandina and Isla Isabella along with lesser visited islands in our 15 day itinerary.
Our ship isn’t huge at 85 feet long but it’s three levels and has a large dive deck, safe staff, amazing chef and being all Ecuadorian owned and operated they are able to get special permits to do both land and diving activities on the same trip when these are normally not possible. Typically, a dive trip is just that and the guests are only able to land in one location. On a land-based trip there is no diving activities. This is truly one of the most extraordinary trips I’ve personally done.
